“Erin, tell me you don’t want this as much as I do, and I’ll walk away, and never press my attentions on you again,” Lukas murmured against my lips, before moving his mouth along my jaw, pressing kisses as he went, and down my neck.

“I want it. I want you,” I found myself saying before I could even think. It was true. Nothing had ever been truer.

Lukas brought his mouth back to mine and kissed me savagely at the sound of my words. His touch was possessive and I thrived under it.

“That’s my good girl. After this, sweetheart, you are all mine. I don’t play games, or mess around.” Sure the intoxicating atmosphere was getting to us both, because as over the top and possessive as his words sounded, they also made complete sense to me. I found myself nodding frantically, as I slid back onto the desk, and he stepped between my legs.

Then, with the worst bad luck in the world, my phone started to ring. The jarring sound broke the spell that had woven over us both. Lucas stiffened first and pulled back. I gulped down air in the absence of his kiss and met his gaze. I saw as reality broke over him, and his strong brow creased with a frown.

“I – I apologize, I don’t know what came over me. I’m sorry.” His tone was flat, hiding his emotion, as he pulled away, and strode toward the door. I could only sit there shocked, and disappointed as he disappeared. I was still sitting on the desk, my hands were still greedily clutching at the space he had been. Of course, a billionaire boss doesn’t just fall for his employee on their first day on the job. Of course, I wasn’t anything special, and the chemistry I felt was in my head. Great, another job, another colossal fuck-up. I was ending up with quite the track record.
